Come Now
"To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. When you come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

Love for Scripture
Last Sabbath was the first time I sang solo at church. Then last Thursday Pastor asked me to sing again. It was for a funeral service for the mother of one of our members at church. He could not find anyone that's available and not working that afternoon. Hmm, I wonder how many more times will i sing solo in my life. But all for His glory, can't just bury this ability on the ground and call myself a faithful servant, can't I? I sang "Give me Jesus."
During the service, one of her nephews had the privilege of reading the obituary. 88 years of age when God called her to rest. He mentioned how his Aunt was such a faithful reader of the Bible. He then addressed the congregation, "How many of us when we can't go to sleep at night, get up and read our Bible?"
That reminded me of my grandma in Indonesia. She is still alive and well, i think in her 80's now, living in the west (cold side) of the country. Back when I was young (grade school young), I remember once a year grandma would visit our house. In a span of 2 or 3 weeks, she would rotate her stay amongst her children in Jakarta. Well, back at her house she had a small store to watch. So i guess when she visited us, she had not much to do. When I came back from school, I would see her most of the time with her Bible. When Pops came back from work, they would spend some time talking in the living room. Then when I got a little older and more able to play the piano, she would time to time ask me to play the hymns and sing with her.
So, fervently reading the Bible, is that just something from the past generation? How did these two ladies develop their habits? Was it just something that came with old age? Lord help me to grow the desire to search You through scripture daily.
"Whom shall He teach knowledge? and whom shall He make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little."
"Let no man despise you for your youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders."

Prophets & Kings
Not in mighty manifestations of divine power, but by "a still small voice," did God choose to reveal Himself to His servant. He desired to teach Elijah that it is not always the work that makes the greatest demonstration that is most successful in accomplishing His purpose.
(Page 168)
It is not always the most learned presentation of God's truth that convicts and converts the soul. Not by eloquence or logic are men's hearts reached, but by the sweet influences of the Holy Spirit, which operate quietly yet surely in transforming and developing character. It is the still, small voice of the Spirit of God that has power to change the heart.

Train Ride
From a friend's post:
"Life is like a train ride. Some people will sit next to you and talk to you. Some will just stand around…oblivious to your existence. Some will have to leave the train while you’re having a great conversation and who knows when you’ll see them again. And if you’re lucky, there’ll be those who will sit and talk to you throughout the whole journey."

Elijah
After Psalms i wasn't sure what to read next. I tried reading the first book Kings for a while, but it didn't seem to work out. I thought to myself maybe I should put a separate time to read this book, for I needed something different to start my day.
So I decided to revisit one of the gospels. It was one of the first books I read, that moment in my youth life when I decided that I needed to read the Bible for myself, to learn from the Word and search Him early. Sure enough, God had a message for me.
There was the first Elijah,
Then came the second [John the Baptist].
Today we are the Elijah of our time.
So our message should be of the same message,
"I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the LORD, as said the prophet Isaiah." John 1:23
"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain." Isaiah 40:3,4
What's your wilderness like? Is it classroom like? or maybe at your own church. Do you sometimes feel that you're the only one crying? Or are you still waiting to make your cry?
"For God has not given us the spirit of timidity; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God." I Timothy 1:7,8
"And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." Luke 1:17
Elijah = "Yahweh is my God"

Slumber
"Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man."
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man."

Hymn
As water to the thirsty
As beauty to the eyes
As strength that follows weakness
As truth instead of lies
As song time and springtime and summertime to be
So is my LORD, my living LORD, so is my LORD to me
Like calm in place of clamor
Like peace that follows pain
Like meeting after parting
Like sunshine after rain
Like moonlight and starlight and sunlight on the sea
So is my LORD, my living LORD, so is my LORD to me
As sleep that follows fever
As gold instead of grey
As freedom after bondage
As sunrise to the day
As home to the traveler and all he longs to see
So is my LORD, my living LORD, so is my LORD to me
....................
"In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
