Like a Tree

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."

Psalms 1

..............

Did you know back in Israelites time, not any tree can be planted by rivers of water? Only those that are specially chosen for bearing fruit. Doesn't that say something about you and I? Oh how privileged we are to be connected to this Water of Life. We have been 'specially chosen'.. to bear fruit in due season.

To walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful are like progressions of our faith. Once we're committed to someone, we'll stop walking.. we stand, then we sit (funny analogy huh? i thought so too :).

My prayer this morning is for our faith to be evermore planted in him, deep into the grounds. Hidden from the surface, where only our private-self and the Holy Spirit can work on.

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
