Holy, Holy, Holy

"And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."

Unto Us

Re-reading I Corinthians this morning:

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."
I Corinthians 1:18,19

Knowledge of Truth

"The prevailing spirit of our time is one of infidelity and apostasy -a spirit of avowed illumination because of a knowledge of truth, but in reality of the blindest presumption.  Human theories are exalted and placed where God and his law should be."

.......

"So far have they [Men] departed from the right way that they hold the opinions of a few philosophers, so-called, to be more trustworthy than the truths of the Bible."

Our Savior

"He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
A bruised reed shall He not break, and the smoking flax shall He not quench: He shall bring forth judgment unto truth."
Isaiah 42:2,3

The Sun of Righteousness did not burst upon the world in splendor, to dazzle the senses with His glory.  It is written of Christ, "His going forth is prepared as the morning." Hosea 6:3. Quietly and gently the daylight breaks upon the earth, dispelling the darkness and waking the world to life.  So did the Sun of Righteousness arise, "with healing in His wings." Malachi 4:2

As in a Dry and Weary Land

Oh I guess it's time for the mandatory birthday post. :P I shall share one of my favorite psalms.  I hope this psalm can be as refreshing to you too.

Psalms 63

"Oh God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thists for you; my flesh yearns for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lis, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night;

For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.

My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

But those who seek to destroy my life shall go down into the depths of the earh; they shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a portion for jackals.

But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped."

..............

Thank you LORD for guiding me through another year of life. Please grant me more wisdom and humility as I grow older.

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
James 1:5

3 Years Later

"As cool as the other side of the pillow." That was my first entry unto this blog. How time has passed (how my struggles with grammars still have not improved by much. hehhe). But here I am again, lying on my back on a couch, once again as a visitor at a friend/family's resident, on yet a similar semi-cool/semi-humid Michigan summer night, as the season is drawing to a close, typing away on my computer.

2009 seems like a long time ago, but at the same it still feels like yesterday. Back then I was just getting ready to start on my last year of clinical training.  And today in 2012, God has blessed me with a wonderful job which still allows me to pay the bills, while I study for my DAT this summer.

I've grown a slightly higher appreciation for this blog. I guess there's a reason why people archive stuff. Because things get forgotten.  Just like in psychology class when we needed to record our dream, to jot them down right away the moment we wake up the next morning, with notebook and pencil next to our bed. As such with this blog.   There were significant things remembered, significant things somewhat forgotten, and many things in between.

May I allow myself to set up another Ebenezer tonight, another 'rock of remembrance.' No not a graven image as an idol, but as it was in Mizpeh when Samuel "took a stone and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, "Up to this point the LORD has been our help" (I Sam 7:12). A remembrance for the continual blessings the LORD has given me up to this point, how He sustains me.  Three years later I can attest of how faithful He is to me up to this day and how underserving and unworthy I am.

I feel the need of quoting from Hosea tonight. May we continue our honest walk with Jesus, our Personal Savior-Redeemer-and-Friend, and strive to serve Him better day by day, not in ways of darkness but in light.

"And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD."

Hosea 2:19,20

My Help
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Winter Child

Nice song...

Born in the winter
This beautiful you
Clean like snow
You who belong to me

Born in the winter
Lovely you
Clear as snow
You who belongs to me

Regardless whether it’s spring, summer, autumn, or winter
Always clear and clean

My Help (Psalm 121)

Plan to sing this Psalm this coming youth Sabbath.. a little nervous.

But a what a wonderful message:
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD."

"He shall preserve thy soul.. even for evermore."

He Pondereth All his Goings

A lot of times when we are trapped in the cycle of sin, we don't know how to get out.  It's like being stuck inside one of those upright 'public washing machines;' we know that we're inside, but we don't know where to start to save ourselves.  Should we first try to clean up our lives a little then come to Jesus?  Do we try to read the Word more in the morning then come to Jesus?  I don't think so. Just come to Jesus friends, he'll help sort out your life for you.

"For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sinsHe shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray."

Treasure Above All People

"Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine."

"The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD."

The Elijah Message

I'm in Michigan right now, visiting my friend Leo, who is studying in the seminary, and his wife Roeum.  Leo and I go way back to our California days.  He popped the question to me one Sunday while sitting at the pews after a friend's wedding, when most of everybody made their way to the reception area but the family and friends taking pictures on the church podium.  He asked if I could be one of his groomsmen. Hehhe.

But what a wonderful Sabbath.  Time spent with old friends and new friends that became connected so seamlessly just from the fact of realizing we are parts of the same body, looking up to the same head, Christ. Our time concluded with solemn prayers during the closing Sabbath. Indeed there is no Indonesian, Filipino, Korean, Puerto Rican, Black or White, Jew nor Greek, "...slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28.

Something was shared at Friday night vespers that was so profound to me, that I want to write it out this morning before I forget. Like a lot of times, the message was not something that I had never heard before, but when it was presented, I couldn't have an answer for, and it hit home in my heart.

It wont be that long, should be my condensed notes for future reference, so please follow along. :)

..........

Elijah's message,
John the Baptist's message,
Our message.

"Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:"
Malachi 4:4,5

Before His second coming, God's people are called to be Elijahs.  Placed in us is a burden, a clear message for the people; to call the lost back, to make known of his soon return. We've heard this before. So if we say yes to his calling, do we know what message to tell? I was dumbfounded.  What's this message(s) I need to tell the world?

Background: Elijah was a wanted man in the land of Israel. There has not been any rain on the land of Israel for a long long time.

"Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months."
James 5:17

Then one day, he ran into Obadiah.  Obadiah was serving King Ahab, as the governor of his house, but he feared God (kind of contradictory, I thought so too, but it's part of the pattern of this chapter you will see).  Elijah then told Obadiah, Tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.  Obadiah trembled greatly; he thought why must he be on the 'opposing' side of Elijah. He really didn't want to be against this servant of God. I believe that he really was sincere.

So Elijah and Ahab went face to face, and the king asked him, "Are you he that troubles Israel?" I Kings 18:17

And so he delivers his message (1), verse 18, "I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim."

Then in verse 20, Ahab gathered the people of Israel and Elijah gave his second message to the people, (2) "How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word." I Kings 18:21

Please meditate upon this scripture. Pray for the Spirit to give you the desire to seek for the lost.  There are people lost at work, sitting next to you in Physics class, janitors at work that no one ever speaks to.  Read the whole chapter of I Kings 18 to grasp the whole context. I pray that the Holy Spirit tugs your heart from me sharing this message.  My writing can be limiting at times, but I've prayed for the Spirit to fill in on my short comings.  I will end this entry with the verse describing the second Elijah, John the Baptist (The name John came from Greek name Yôḥanan which means "Graced by Yahweh"-wikipedia).

"But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John." Luke 1:13

"And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." verse 17.

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them."

Sunrise

This morning I woke up upon sunrise.  Something had been tugging in my heart for the last couple of days. Ever since I started my job in IL, and especially for the last couple of months, I felt like life went by in cruise control. Sceneries and things passed me by in a blur; it seemed that I planned my route only to my heart's liking, to gain some pleasure here, gain some pleasure there. Bible reading was scarce, prayer time a mere formality.

But The Holy Spirit has been knocking.  I remembered of this blog, 'My Ebenezer' and how God had led me up to this point in my life. So I call upon conviction to this faith I have. The faith that I remember was once burning. Lord help me find my way back to the path of righteousness.

"Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the LORD pitched, and not man."

How Sweet to Hold

I'm home for a week and a half to see my newborn niece Kierana.  She was born the 5th of May. There were so many different pictures sent to me over the past week from my dad and sisters, and Keira looked different on every single one. lol. So I finally saw her last night and much more this morning. Finally got my first hand impression.

"Oh how sweet to hold a newborn baby, and feel the pride and joy she gives." Hymn #526 Because He Lives.

"But greater still the calm assurance, this child can face uncertain days because He lives." Song continued.

Happy for my sister Yuli and Lae Calvin.

Prophecy in Joel

"Tell ye your children of it, and let your children
tell their children, and their children another generation.

That which the palmerworm hath left hath
the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath
left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which
the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten."

Joel 1:3,4

..........

"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed."

Daylight Saving Time

12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in strife and envying.

14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Small Groups

So Pastor told me earlier today, that we're starting small groups at church. I'm so excited. God has blessed me earlier this month by having a coworker who was willing to take up my Sabbath rotations (while I take his Sundays for the unforeseeable future). Now I feel the calling, for another day off during the week, so I can consistently be part of a small group. Oh how He opens doors. I can see it clearly now.

I've been listening to Daryl Cheng today, on my drive to and from work.  A young medical doctor from Australia that had quite a bit of experience with small group ministries in Melbourne.  For the very first time, he and his sister had their workshop at GYC earlier this year, but sadly I didn't go to any of theirs. I blame it on the weird GYC format this year (having only 3 long sessions over 2 days, instead of multiple shorter ones throughout the day). But the audios are archived online.

I feel inspired already.. let's get that small group going!

You can download and listen to them here too:

untitled

It's already the end of February. This blog has not been maintained so well hasn't it? Among school, work, and sleeping-in, my days of reflection have been cut short. Sadly, this blog activity is also directly proportional to my prayer life.

Year of 2012. 'Tis the first year that I have to do my own taxes. Exciting times. Will have to call my pops sometime this week to ask him how.

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name write, that no man knew, but he himself." Rev 19:11,12

Not long ago, a good friend shared to me a song by this singer.  What a talent.

"What does thou here, Elijah?"

A week has passed since attending GYC. Life has settled back in. The new year has come in without notice it seems. I feel like I didn't have any time to think of my resolutions this year.

A message from the book of I Kings stirred my heart at that youth conference. A message on Elijah.

So I looked up the reference tonight, I Kings chapter 19. How funny, it's also where my bookmark was placed on my "Prophets & Kings"(E.G. White) reading, the reading that been abandoned for months. I'll share with you a sentence or two from my reading tonight.

"Much depends on the unceasing activity of those who are true and loyal, and for this reason Satan puts forth every possible effort to thwart the divine purpose to be wrought out through the obedient. He causes some to lose sight of their high and holy mission, and to become satisfied with the pleasures of this life" (PK 171).

A lot of things has happened since I last moved this, what seemed to be, immovable bookmark. Bookmark on my Ellen White reading and bookmark on my study Bible. I feel the Holy Spirit tugging me tonight, a whisper, for me to come out of this path leading only to destruction called pleasures of life.

............

"And he came there unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

He said, I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.

And he said, Go out and stand on the mount before the LORD. And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper."

~I Kings 13:9-12
