Death

"The LORD hath disciplined me severely,
but He hath not given me over to death.
Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to the LORD."
Psalms 118:18,19

I don't have all the answers as to why disasters happen and take away the lives of many people; why is there so many suffering children on this earth? But I know the angels of darkness are like roaring lions who would devour the lives of mankind when given the chance. Know that our Heavenly Father is the sustainer of our lives. However faulty you and I are, we are viewed by Him as His own, "a people for His own possession" (I Pet 2:9).

Just a couple of chapters back, the psalmist says,

"The LORD hath been mindful of us:
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
He will bless them that fear the LORD,
both small and great."
Psalms 115:12,13

"The dead praise not the LORD,
neither any that go down into silence
But we will bless the LORD from this time forth
and for evermore. Praise the LORD."
Psalms 115:17,18

The Marvelous Light

50mm f1.6 1/4000 sec

I got a call this morning from a lady who wanted to schedule my interview on Monday. Please pray for me so things will go well. God is good. He provides all our needs.

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." I Peter 2:9,10

Take time to remember how He's shown mercy in our lives. May we proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His daily-renewed grace. Introduce Him to your friends, so they too may see and feel the warmth of His marvelous light. Mention His faithfulness, how time and time again, He provides in times of need.

These are They (Rev 7:13,14)

"And one of the elders answered, saying unto me,
Who are these, clothed in white robes,
and where have they come?

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest.

And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation,
and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."
Revelations 7:13,14

Illinois

"What's 5°F like?" you might ask. It doesn't actually look that bad, cause there's not a single cloud out; such a nice sunny day. I was curious too, so I got my ipod and chose a good reliable jacket to come along with me for a little walk. Two songs out and I decided to find my way back. My ears started hurting and somehow I could feel any subtle breeze that's coming my way.

Hoping for the best for tomorrow. If only I didn't see the forecast.

Faithful

"But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is Thy faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, says my soul,
therefore I will hope in Him."

Lamentation 3:21-24

As a father pitieth his children

Like as a father pitieth his children,
so the LORD pitieth them that fear Him.
For He knoweth our frame;
He remembereth that we are dust.

As for man, his days are as grass:
as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone;
and the place thereof shall know it no more.

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
upon them that fear Him,
and His righteousness unto children's children;
To such as keep His covenant,
and to those that remember His commandments to do them.
Psalms 103:13-18

Psalm 103 is such a powerful psalm.. i was tempted to
put all 22 verses here.

It's snowing hard outside. i'm supposed to go to dmv today to change my california license to illinois. Hmm.. wonder when the snow will stop.

His yoke is easy

“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken."
Luke 21:25,26

"And Elijah said to her, Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.
For thus says the LORD the God of Israel, The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.
And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.
The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by Elijah.
I Kings 17,16,17

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30

************

"The continual worry is wearing out the life forces. Our Lord desires them to lay aside this yoke of bondage. He invites them to accept His yoke; He says, "My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." He bids them seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and His promise is that all things needful to them for this life shall be added. Worry is blind, and cannot discern the future; but Jesus sees the end from the beginning. In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief. Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. Those who accept the one principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet." (The Desire of Ages p.330)

"Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you." I Peter 5:7

Imperishable Beauty

"Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of clothing—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."
I Pet 3:3,4
