Have You Met my Savior?

Isn't it great to be considered tools, being used for the work of our Lord?

I really can't say that I'm an 'exemplary' disciple. What do you call a disciple that is furthest away from exemplary? I'm still amazed by His grace every morning, His faithfulness to me. Jesus is there through my ups and downs, pleading for me.

For those times that I do not stray, having Him walk along side me, I could sense an indescribable joy, a lightness to my footsteps. Oh that I should never stumble, nor should my pride take the best of me. In those times, I find myself encountering people that are searching for Him too.

When Pastor Mark Finley was in the area for a month long series, I was in my hematology rotation. Working with blood everyday; from making blood smears to checking presence of blood in urine. All the fun stuff. One of the techs that I worked with, her name's Gordana. A very nice lady, maybe in her 40's, from the nation of Yugoslavia (one point changed to Serbia Montenegro, now just Serbia). I asked her, "So now, where do you tell people you're from?" She said, "Oh, I still tell people I'm from Yugoslavia. It's still not natural for me to say that I'm from Serbia."

So one day, because of renovation the hospital's library was giving away a lot of its books. I got an interesting book/novel on piano playing (that i'm still not sure if I'm going to ever read). I picked it up coming back from lunch. On the way back I saw Gordana and another worker from lab and I mentioned to her about the free books from the library. I showed her the interesting book I found. :)

Not long after, as I was already settled on my work in the lab, Gordana came in with two books in her hand. Meanwhile, the other co-worker that went with her came in and sat not far from my bench. Being my friendly self I asked,
"So, what did you get from the library, Ginnie?" (that's the friend's name. hehe)
She said, "Oh, nothing that interest me. But Gordana got a couple of books."
"Oh, what did she get?" i asked.
"She got some books on prophecy."

That moment, I felt The Spirit speaking to me. I felt impressed to talk to Gordana. With Mark Finley series going on just across the street (in the big hospital church every night), I felt impressed to invite her to the meetings. After all, Mark Finley is a wonderful speaker that explains Bible prophecy like non-other.

The hospital that I work in is a Seventh-day Adventist hospital, but most of its workers are not necessarily one. It used to be the case many years back, but I soon realized that's not the case anymore.

My mind put two-and-two together. Mark Finley wont be around for too long. I soon would have to move to my next rotation. I could just let things go as normal and go on with my work. Why put one's self in an uncomfortable conversation. Why must i go beyond just asking how are things or how was lunch? But who am I to say. One soul is so precious in His eyes. Could I afford to pass on an opportunity to introduce her to my Lord and Savior? Who am I to weigh having an average day at work versus extending an invitation and possibly be rejected.

Tonight if you would pray with me for Gordana. For the Holy Spirit to work in her. Having to work in a Seventh-day Adventist hospital, and not to have once given an extended hand of invitation would not have been right. I did end up picking her up to go to one of Mark Finley's meetings. She said that he shouts a lot. lol. But i believe she could relate to the message. It has been a couple of weeks since that day. It was too bad that the topic that night was not on Daniel & Revelation, the Bible Prophecy that she truly longed for. But I'm still glad she came out that day. So if I may solicit your prayers for Gordana tonight.

"Therefore said He unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest.

Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor knapsack, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.

.....

And into whosoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come near unto you.

But unto whosoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: nevertheless be ye sure of this, that it shall be more tolerable in that day of Sodom, than for that city."

Luke 10:2-4,8-12

  1. God says in his word that as the rain comes down and does not return before watering the earth so his word will not return void without accomplishing His purpose for it.
